Brilliant views at the Gables
Brilliant stay starting with the incredibly friendly couple who owned the Gables. We were personally led to a beautiful room with full views of the lake and shown through the room which included a hot tub. The room was incredibly clean and had a kitchenette with everything we needed in order to make our own meals. It was lovely and quiet- I spent plenty of time sitting outside admiring the view. The Gables is also close enough to town- 5min drive or 20-25min flat walk along the Lakeside (about 1.5km). Would highly recommend staying here and if we come to NZ again, a stop here will certainly be warranted!

A great stay in Taupō
This motel has absolutely everything! Comfort, amenities and a beautiful view. We can’t remember staying in a better motel anywhere in the world - and we’ve travelled a lot.
We were lucky enough to have a room with a private hot tub - very welcome after a long day out.

Wonderful place to stay
Highly recommended Gables Lakefront, not only was our accommodation very comfortable and felt like a home, but the hosts are also very lovely. We had delicious homemade biscuits waiting for us in our room when we arrived, the room was clean, and the spa pool was fantastic to start the day with. Will stay here again.

Great stay, best views, friendly helpful owners.
As soon as my son and I arrived to check if any rooms were available for a few nights we were put at ease by the friendly nature of the owners. They showed us the Superior one bedroom apartment and we were sold.
We had the best view of Lake Taupo that you could ask for, it is literally just across the road, with snow capped Mt Ruapehu in the background, picture perfect. Although i am not a swimmer there is a swimming beach just across the road on the shore of the lake where we saw many people enjoying themseves.
There was even an Icecream van and a Coffee van just across from us, very convenient, very yummy icecream.
Sitting inside or outside our apt/room with a glass of wine in the evening or cup of coffee in the morning was a highlight. Our room had a Hot Tub, very relaxing and a great way to warm up after an early morning walk, or relieve night time chill.
All amenities were clean and tidy, I used the laundry room for some washing and had the option of dryer or line drying.
We very much enjoyed our stay at the Gables and would not hesitate to stay again or recomend this is a great place to stay.

Great stay - spotless and friendly service
The Gables is an extremely professionally run property with friendly / helpful owners and staff. The room was spotless and the facilities of high standard. It’s a 30 second walk from the beautiful lake with stunning views across to the mountains - when the rain lifted.
We were there for the Ironman triathlon and it was the perfect accommodation.
Highly recommend.

Great stay during NZ roadtrip
We stayed at Gables during our road trip around New Zealand. We were so pleased with the spacious room; it also had everything you needed. The kitchen allowed us to enjoy a few meals at the motel while watching the view. We also braved a few cold water swims, in the mornings, right outside the motel in the swimming area of the lake before jumping into the room's private hot pool to warm up. The couple who run the motel were friendly and offered great recommendations.

Great weekend away
An enjoyable stay, the 2 bedroom apartments have all you need especially with children (dishwasher, sky tv). Lovely to have our room all warmed up for us as we arrived early evening. Family spa was well located to our room. Staff all very lovely and welcoming making sure we had everything we needed. Would defiantly return.

Excellent stay on lakefront at Gables
Great accommodation quiet and warm unit great nights sleep. Hosts were extremely helpful and friendly and were keen to ensure our stay was great. Woke to a beautiful clear day with spectacular view of the mountains across a flat and sparkling lake. Will be back thank you

The Gables is a great place to stay. Lovely Hosts, very clean rooms with excellent facilities. The private spa attached to our room was very nice after a day travelling. The view of the Lake and Mountains has to be one of the best. We also appreciated all the channels available and watched some good movies. We have stayed at several places in Taupo over the years and are very pleased to have discovered The Gables.

Fabulous location
This was an enjoyable two night stay. The room was roomy, well equipped and warm. The view was outstanding. Service was efficient and friendly. I would definitely stay here again. The perfect spot for a short or longer stay. The personal hot tub was a bonus to be savoured.

Friendly hosts and comfortable stay
The highlight of our stay was the warm hospitality of our hosts. We enjoyed the spa in the room, but we also had access to the family spa, which was hot and steamy. The king bed was super comfortable and firm. The bathroom was super clean and was great having access to free wifi and loads of tv sky Chanel’s. An espresso coffee van on the lake was an added bonus in front of hotel. Will be coming back for sure as the host promised to make us an authentic Indian meal. That’s good kiwi hospitality for you. AAA+++ thank you for our stay. Love Taupo.

Excellent service and rooms, ours with a private hot tub
We really enjoyed our stay here and will be booking again later in the year. We were greeted by a lovely couple who made us feel really welcome. The room and facilities were amazing and the lake located a few meters away from the Motel. The private hot tub was the selling point for us and didn’t disappoint..what better way to spend a cool winters evening after a brisk walk back from the restaurant.

Amazing stay
We stayed at gables for one night, staff was friendly, rooms very absolutely clean, all linin were smell so fresh and new so clean and tidy. Plus point is a private hot pools in the room. So amazing stay. Love to come back. Cheers for for hospitality
